Summer Shein Pieces I’ve Been Loving

Hey y’all, welcome back to Cleverly Caroline! Today I’m going to be sharing with y’all some pieces I bought at Shein recently and haven’t been able to stop wearing and styling. I have always been curious about Shein, it was one of the first online Chinese stores I heard about back in middle school, but I haven’t ordered anything until this summer. I have seen such mixed reviews throughout the years, so I figured I would share my experience with y’all.

One positive thing to start with is the shipping. It was way faster than I expected! It seems like they now ship out of California, so it comes pretty quickly. I believe they used to ship out of China and it took much longer. Some of the clothes did have a weird scent when I first opened them, but that dissipated quickly.

The Pom Pom Dress

I am so excited about this dress! It is so perfect for summertime and can easily be dressed up or down. It’s nice and flowy but cinches in a bit under the bust, which, along with the fluttery sleeves, gives dimension to the dress and your figure. I paired this dress with some sparkly sandals and a navy tote bag for a day at the mall. The material is a bit sheer so I wore a nude bra and black shorts underneath, which worked well. I usually wear an extra small or small in dresses and went for a small in this one. This size fits well, but I could’ve made an extra small work as well.

The White Ruffle Sleeve Top

White tops are certainly a wardrobe staple and you definitely need this one in your closet. This top pairs perfectly with any bottom, bold or neutral. I have worn this top both with jeans and navy shorts, but I intend to wear it with a Lilly Pulitzer skirt as well. The material is stretchy and the same thickness as a good cotton tee shirt. I got a small in this top and probably should’ve sized down because of the stretchiness; as you can see in the first picture, the neck droops a little and I think that could be resolved with a smaller size. Like with any white shirt, I recommend a nude bra with this top.

The Pink Peplum Top

This top surprised me: I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did. The color is a bit more grey in person than it looked online, but I actually like it. It pairs well with denim and I think it would look adorable with a pair of white jeans! This top is the same material as the pom pom dress and I tried it with both a light grey and nude bra, both of which were fine! I would avoid wearing super dark or bright bras with this though.

The Blue Smocked Top

This top was definitely a risk for me, I don’t usually go for tube tops or smocked anything, but this top looked adorable online and I couldn’t resist. The bows on the arms got me to choose this top over any of the other tube tops. I also liked that this one covered more than some of the other similar items on their website. I am honestly a little disappointed by this top. Mostly, I expected the bows to tied when I received the top but I had to tie them myself, which didn’t end up looking as good as the picture. I got this top in a small but definitely could have gone down to an extra small because of how stretchy it is.

The White Eyelet Skirt

This skirt is definitely one of Shein’s hidden gems! It fits me perfectly around the waist (I usually wear a 26 in jeans and got a medium.) One reason I love it so much is that it looks way more expensive than it actually is! Another great feature is its built in shorts, you never have to worry about flashing anyone. You definitely have to wear nude underwear with this skirt because it is a bit sheer in the back, but then it’s perfect!

I really enjoyed shopping at Shein and reviewing it for y’all. I think Shein is fairly trustworthy, but you should be prepared with nude bras and underwear because the fabric can be sheer. I think this is definitely a fair tradeoff for the incredible prices on the site. I also recommend reading reviews before purchasing to see if the items run true to size and see what they look like on real people.
