Winter Skincare Favorites

Hey y’all, welcome back! Today I’m going to be sharing with y’all my winter skincare favorites. Since moving to Boston, I’ve had to change up the way I take care of my skin during the winter since it’s so cold and dry. This post is full of tips for keeping your skin hydrated during the colder months!

Face

Hydrating face wash and mask

During the winter, I typically don’t wash my face because it can really dry out my skin. If I need to wash my face, I love this Clarins cleanser. It really cleans my skin without leaving it dry and flakey afterward. This is definitely a more expensive skincare item and if you’re not looking to spend $30 on a facial cleanser, I recommend looking for things marked gentle or sensitive skin.

If I need an extra dose of hydration, this Rose Gel Mask from Trader Joe’s is one of my go-to’s. I’m always trying out new masks though, and there are tons of great hydrating masks out there at all price ranges. I’ve heard great things about the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask as well.

One of my holy grail products all year round is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It’s hydrating yet doesn’t leave your face feeling oily. This is great to use after washing your face or if your skin needs a hydration boost. A good dupe for this is the Cetaphil moisturizer. Cetaphil is a bit thicker and will leave you looking a little oily, but it’s equally hydrating and about half the price.

I know my under eyes get particularly dry during the winter so I’ve recently gotten into under-eye masks. They are definitely a great way to keep your skin hydrated. These gold under-eye masks from Masqueology are available at Walmart and on Amazon, so they won’t break the bank.

Lips

Aquaphhor for dry lips

When it comes to keeping your lips from being chapped, Aquaphor is simply the best. It’s so inexpensive and it does the best job. Plus, if you already have chapped lips, it will turn that around almost immediately. I know the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is super popular right now, but I don’t think I could ever be converted from my beloved Aquaphor.

My absolute favorite body lotion is Bath and Body Works Ultra Shea Body Cream. It’s very hydrating and it smells amazing! I like that it leaves a subtle scent throughout the day. I typically put on this lotion after I shower at night. Putting on lotion right after the shower is the best way to hydrate your skin! My favorite scents are Warm Vanilla Sugar, Christmas Cookies, and Vanilla Bean Noel.

Besides BBW, Alba Botanica makes a great body lotion you can get at Target and I also enjoy the body cream tubs from Trader Joe’s. For dry knees, elbows, ankles, and cuticles, I like to use Eucerin cream. It’s very thick and does a great job at healing cracked skin.

Water

The most important part of keeping your skin hydrated during the winter is drinking water. It can be easy to forget since you aren’t sweating all the time like you are in the summer, but water is crucial for our bodies. I like to have a reusable bottle on me at all times. If I don’t have one, I usually won’t drink water. Here are some easy ways to remember to drink water during the winter: have at least one cup with every meal, keep your reusable bottle with you and visible at all times, and always fill your bottle before you leave the house.
